Baltimore wedding photographer

Hi, I’m Izzy

Before I was a photographer, I trained as an art conservator, spending years preserving objects that had lived through lifetimes. It sharpened my eye for detail and taught me patience in protecting what matters. Eventually, I realized I wanted to be on the artist’s side, documenting life as it unfolds.

My photography story began in Puerto Rico in 2014 with couples and family portraits, then weddings in 2017, and by 2019, it became my full-time calling. I grew up in Germany, lived in Puerto Rico for 6 years and now call Maryland my home. Each place taught me how to connect across cultures, to read a room, and notice the subtleties that make every story unique.

When I’m not photographing awesome people, you can usually find me hiking or camping and planning the next road trip.

When I travel, I often shoot film - my way of slowing down, creating fewer but more meaningful frames. That same intention runs through my wedding work: photographs that feel timeless, emotional, and worth keeping for decades.

About
Steady&Sway

Coco

Over the years, my business has worn different names, logos, and websites, with each stage reflecting where I was in life.

With time, it’s grown into what it is now: a storytelling approach that feels true to me and attracts the most wonderful couples who align perfectly with what Steady & Sway stands for. It’s been a winding road, but I’m so grateful it’s led me here. This brand gives me the chance to be present with my clients and in my personal life, which is exactly how I want to show up. And while I’m the main face of Steady & Sway, I’m not really running the show alone. Coco, the ultimate boss cat, holds the title of CEO and keeps me in line. I’m also lucky to have a beautiful, spacious studio space in Ellicott City where I spend much of my time working on creative projects and client sessions. It’s become such an integral part of bringing my vision to life and connecting with the clients I serve.

She has an amazing eye and a lovely energy about her.

She prioritized our voices amongst many loud and boisterous family and friends, and gave a calming energy while still masterfully prioritizing and adapting based on timing, lighting, and backdrop. HIRE HER!

Fun Facts
about me

I speak German, English, and conversational Spanish, but sometimes mix them mid-sentence and confuse everyone (including myself).

Coffee tastes best outdoors, especially by a campfire.

I must get in the water on every trip, no matter how cold.

I love tacos, pizza, sushi, and wedding cake (the best job perk).

I’m obsessed with soundtracks -I can tell you exactly which film a song is from, and if a movie has a bad soundtrack, I’ll turn it off.

Plants make me happy. My home is basically part jungle.

I’m a trained yoga teacher and love a good yoga flow to reset my mind.

I’m German, so of course I appreciate a good beer and a cozy brewery hangout.

Coco is the real boss, I just work here.

We absolutely fell in love with Izzy’s photography when we came across her work.

I mean, how can you not? But when we saw that her Cat was her CEO and Creative Director, we knew she was the photographer for our wedding!
